The Academy does an incredible job of letting us "play along" with the
kids. Fantastic websites tell us the schedules, give us tips and
insights and tons and tons of pics. If you want to "play along" join

this down as the WORST day of my life! My eldest son, Tahichi, left
today for the Air Force Academy. We stayed up all night, watching
TV, talking, etc. until his Dad came for him at 4 a.m. I've kept
myself busy all day with yardwork (and crying), washing my truck (and
crying), designing clay (oddly, not crying), and now making this website
of photos from the last week. Awards ceremonies, graduation,
celebration dinners and the Haircut were all events..
This is GUTS beginning the march to Jacks Valley July 21 Field Day Jul 15 His squadron won this event that's him on the right That's him on the right - in his dress blues! We were desperate for a smiling photo.. but all we got was a photo of him behind a notebook! Then FINALLY, Web Guy came through with a great photo taken in the mailroom, so we know he got mail too! There he goes into the bus to start his Academy life Doug has him spotted in his field glasses at the swearing in ceremony. Tach wrote us that he saw his Dad but couldn't wave. Inprocessing Day. That's Sharon, Tach's stepmom (sort of) on the left, Tach and Doug, his Dad. Thus begins Doug's Worst Day. He had no idea it would hit him so hard. Tach said, "It's time for me to go upstairs and begin now." Front page of the Academy newsletter. Tach is upper left corner Notice how everyone is straining to stand at attention, but Tach, those of us who know him know that this is a relaxed pose for HIM! No, he isn't in this pic at the Swearing In, but it's his Squardron. Chapel is the background. My 3 Aces - Magnum, Tahichi and Caitlin - all friends for years Tahichi formally receives his appointment from Lt. Col. Borka, his Academy Liasion Officer. Tach received appointments to Air Force and Westpoint. Graduation day and he has a rare smile for the camera. The medal is for 3 years of Band My only nephew, Adam with the graduate His opinion of the kebobs for his after grad party Haircut day, his hair is short but the goatee and sideburns have to go.. He said he couldn't think or make decisions without stroking his goatee. His chin was cold and felt wet too. Last night dinner with our great friends Jennifer and Barry Tach at 4 a.m. moments before he left - one last seat on the "throne"
